CDC: Physicians Continue Flu Vaccine

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is urging physicians to continue administering Influenza (flu) vaccines well past the holiday season. Flu activity historically doesn’t peak until January or later, according to the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), so it is still very worthwhile to continue immunizing patients well into December and beyond.
To stress this point, the CDC hosted its third annual National Influenza Vaccination Week, Dec. 8-14.
To promote awareness, the CDC named Dec. 9 as Children’s Vaccination Day and Dec. 11 as Seniors’ Vaccination Day. Dec. 12 was set aside for health care workers.
To provide clinicians with up-to-date information on immunization, the National Immunization Program hosted a live netconference titled “Current Issues in Immunization,” Dec. 12, 2-3 p.m. ET.
