    HI IAM WRITING IN REGARDS TO THE EMR THAT IS COMING AND HOW WILL CPC BE USED IF THE DOC IS ABLE TO CODE HIMSELF THRU A PROGRAM THAT DOES IT FOR HIM OUR OFFICE IS STARTING TO IMPLEMENT THIS PROGRAM THRU OUT THIS YEAR.VERYINTERESTED WAS TOLD CODERS MAYNOT BE NEEDED.SOME ONE FILL ME IN ON THIS

    I invested in the coding software, Trucode which is designed by coders and even though most say that it is expensive, I would have to say that it pays for itself in the long run. I would not suggest that a beginning coder purchase it however, because the most important tools are your BOOKS!

    In response to Cynthia, I would like to reply that our organization is been implementing the EHR over the past two and a half years. It has not been without its headaches, but whe you understand the process of inputting patient chart info, you will see that the role of the coder chages a bit to moreof an auditor. The system is designed to calculate the evaluation and management office visit levels, put many providers rely on generic based diagnosis codes, which we all know, most require those extra digits for the correct specificity.

    Also, event hough you can build templates and customize folders for scenarios, you can’t customize all. The providers and staff do not always feel comfortable or feel they have the time to use “search”. Our coders communicate by e-mails and phone to guide and educate. We are still here.
