The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is preparing to conduct the fifth annual Medicare Contractor Provider Satisfaction Survey (MCPSS). This survey offers Medicare fee-for-service (FFS) providers and suppliers an opportunity to give CMS feedback on their interactions with Medicare FFS contractors related to seven key business functions: Provider Inquiries, Provider Outreach & Education, Claims Processing, Appeals, Provider Enrollment, Medical Review, and Provider Audit & Reimbursement.

The survey will be sent to a random sample of approximately 30,000 Medicare FFS providers and suppliers. Those who are selected to participate in the 2010 MCPSS will be notified starting in January.

If you are selected to participate, please take a few minutes to complete this important survey. Providers and suppliers can complete the survey on the Internet via a secure Web site or by mail, fax, or telephone. To learn more about the MCPSS, please visit the CMS Web site.

   I wanted to comment on working with FFS. I have spent the last few days working with Secure Horizons PFFS plan. This has been a long, difficult process. We do not have a contract with the PFFS. When we receive our EOB’s from them they want us to follow Medicare’s guidelines for diagnosis’s etc. Which is fine and great. We can easily do that. But when we get our EOB’s from them they are not following the adjustment codes that Medicare uses. So I have spent hours upon hours on the phone with them trying to get them to correct these adjustment codes. For example. If we bill a patient a tetanus shot, Medicare will deny as patient balance not covered. Secure PFFS will deny stating CO96, which means we cannot bill the patient so we must write off. We have sent in several appeals regarding this issue and have gotten no where. Please see if this issue can be resolved. It would save us all a lot of time. I appreciate being heard.
