Ten lawsuits have been filed against Salix Pharmaceuticals by individuals who suffered kidney damage after taking OsmoPrep in preparation for a colonoscopy.

The lawsuits, some also naming the prescribing gastroenterologist and endoscopy center as defendants, were filed prior to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) adding a black box warning for OsmoPrep regarding increased risk of kidney damage in older patients.
