Repertoire Magazine: Talking in Code

We know that the ICD-10 implementation will affect all areas of health care–payers seem ready, but are the providers? This is the question posed in the most recent Repertoire magazine. AAPC’s VP of ICD-10 education and training Rhonda Buckholtz, CPC, CPMA, CPCI was recently interviewed for the article on ICD-10.

“As the federal government and private payers move more towards pay-for-quality initiatives, the significance of the ICD-10 code will become more important,” she stated. “With their emphasis on ‘medical necessity’ payers are returning claims because they don’t meet [that criteria].”
