The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS’) electronic prescription drug program continues to evolve since its inception in 2008. For 2010, providers still can receive incentive payments for successful e-prescribing (also known as eRx). Three numerator G codes used in 2009 are eliminated, a new numerator G code is available, and denominator codes are expanded to include a greater number of services. Read more »

2010 MPFS Final Rule Still Holds Surprises

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced, Oct. 30, final changes to 2010 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS) policies and payment rates. The Work Plan outlines activities the OIG intends to initiate or continue in its ongoing endeavor to right wrongs in Health and Human Services (HHS) programs and operations, such as Medicare. 2009 PQRI, E-Prescribing Tips

New guidance is available for electronic prescribing, or e-prescribing, and the Physician Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI). A July 2 transmittal issued by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will help ensure your practice qualifies for the full 2 percent incentive payment (for each program).

Come on, it’s only 513 pages! Well, if you’re short on time, you may want to read Transmittal 459, Change Request (CR) 6394. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued the transmittal March 20 to provide an overview of the 2009 Physician Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI) and E-prescribing Incentive Program.
